Xinfrared T2 Pro or HX09

Hello,

I am after my first thermal “scope”, going for the budget cell phone version. I know there has been a review on T2 Pro here, but I am also considering HX09, which I can have for a marginally better price (even though it is usually more expensive). HX09 has a better frame rate and focusing ring, which is probably irelevant for wildlife watching, but quite importantly has 19,6° angle of view instead of 13° (so on FX equivalent 105 mm instead of 150 mm). Did anyone try the two models and could advise, which would be better for my use? Most of time I would use it in central Europe for smaller mammals or possibly owls, but tropical travel is a main reason I am buying this now (going to Thailand soon). 150 mm seems way too narrow for scanning (and so does 100 mm), but I have no experience with thermals.

I have not considered other brands, probably makes no sense, but I am open to suggestions.

Thank you.

We use Seek Thermal Compact Pro, it works well for us, finding both small rodents and large objects at a distance. The IPhone/IPad version seems to be faster.

I have a nearly-new Xinfrared T2 Pro – iOS (i.e. for an iPhone not Android) for sale. I didnt like using the phone screen and spent $1000s on Pulsar instead…

    Hello again,
I got the T2 Pro with an option to return within 2 weeks, the price was about 315 EUR. I must say that I would like to have even greater reach, so it is a better choice than HX09 for me. Scanning nearby trees is a bit annoying, but still worth a 50% extra reach.
In late November, I did not got to test it way too efficiently, but I was able to find a hare some 30ish meters away, hidden under a log: When I took a photo at 400 mm, I still was not able to find the animal on the camera’s screen and needed to zoom in in order to find what the thermal actually saw.
One issue I have with the camera that it freezes fairly often (the camera, not the app) and I need to either take it out, or restart the app etc. Not sure if that is common or I should deal with that.
Guy: I am from Europe, so I did not consider your offer, but thank you.
