RFI: Udzungwa national park quickly need info

We leave for Udzungwa tomorrow from our hotel in Dar. I just need to know if there is a specific trail that is good for Sanje mangabey and grey faced elephant shrew. Help very appreciated.

Hi Moses, TANAPA runs a program to take people to see the Sanje mangabey. Just stop by HQ when you arrive and you can book it there. Otherwise you can try calling them in advance to arrange it. I don’t have a good site for the Sengi in the main part of the Park; I suggest you ask the rangers when you get there.

Some of us has seen the Grey-faved Sengi while looking for the Udzungwa Forest Partridge. They had their little trails around the area, especially in bamboo. This is a coordinate for it: -7.771673, 36.494605
Not sure which part of the Udzudwa you will visit, there are several possible hiking trails. I think Sanje Mangabey is in a different part of the park.

    Hi,

If not too late try contacting the Mazingira association. Silvia Ricci An Italian biologist should currently be there and she worked in the team that few years ago described the giant elephant shrew

Thank you to everyone. We did manage to find both species in the same place surprisingly with a guide. I could only manage to photograph the mangabey. Thank you so much. Trip report to be expected in a week or two.
