RFI Smooth-coated Otters in Singapore

Hello,

How to best see smooth-coated otters in Singapore on tight schedule? There seem to be enthusiasts monitoring the otters, but how to get in touch with them (I have no Facebook)? Any further details to narrow down the search? I plan to visit Marina Bay and Pulau Ubin, but they are relatively wide areas.

Try Pasir Ris Beach early in the morning before crowds show up. The boats to Pulau Ubin island don’t start till 8 or so, get to the beach at dawn and scan both the water and the beaches themselves. Then if no luck go to the island after that

You can try Bishan park as well, theres a large family around that area. Prime time for otter is about 7am-9am. For Marina Bay you can spread along to Clarke Quay as well along the Singapore River

Unfortunately most of the otter watching groups are on facebook, but if you hit the popular spots early enough, usually there are people around looking for the otters as well

Otters can sometimes be seen in the waters by the Gardens by the Bay and upstream. There are often otter enthusiasts in the area so look to them for help finding them. Try to get there just after daybreak as they start feeding very early. You may have to do a lot of walking quickly to catch up to them so get a bike or a scooter if you can.

Hello, earlier this year, in January, we had a few sightings within the historical Singapore Botanic Gardens. Great place to visit actually!
