Recife Brazil

Hello all,

Heading to a wedding (unintended rhyme) in Recife, Brazil, in December for a few days and was wondering if anyone knows of any good wildlife spots accesable in the nearby area. I know its a long shot as i have less than a week.

Many Thanks

    Hello
Try to aim for Engenho Gargaú
Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural (RPPN). You could spot some nice birds but it is the main protected area for blonde capuchin and also host the endangered red-handed howler monkey. It’s 2:15 by car to the north.
To the south, there is Rio Formoso with some endemic localized birds such as the Waterton hummingbird and Forbes blackbird. But we’re on mammal watching and of you head a little bit more south, you get to Tatuamunha where they protect and bring people to see the southernmost population of Caribbean manatee (fully isolated from others).

Enjoy the caipirinhas as well at the wedding 😊

    Thanks Therabu!
I had a great time, lovely area indeed and great caperinhias, i just have a couple of days left, seen a tonne of birds and a rat and some common marmosets today. I dont have a car and im not sure how easy it would be for me to travel to remote areas like that on my own.
Do you know of any tour company in recife i could try for this? And are any of the protected areas within recife worth going to?
