Oceanwide Expeditions Svalbard Pre-tour Manual 2024

Ruta and me joined Oceanwide Expeditions in June 2024 onboard the Hondius for their “North Spitsbergen Explorer – Polar Bears , Bowhead Whales & more” (6 days / 7 nights).

Here is not a trip report as such but some kind of pre-tour manual which we compiled before the actual trip.

We have found very useful and important to prepare in detail any of our wildlife trips. We usually end up collating information from various sources and documentation which end up forming some kind of pre-tour manual.

Here is that manual before our trip to Svalbard! I hope it helps both in sharing our trip preparation approach and for future travellers into Svalbard.

I am busy sorting pictures of that trip right now and a proper trip report may follow in a few weeks from now.

I am a French biologist and I have cultivated a very strong interest for wildlife and mammals in particular since my early childhood (1,001 mammal species observed until May 2023 and more than 1,750 bird species). I have been lucky to travel the world to see animals in their natural ecosystems but also in captive settings.
