Mammal Watchers—Who Would You Want to Talk To? Help Shape Alba, a New Expert Q&A Platform!
Hey everyone,
I’m working on a new platform called Alba, designed to connect naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts with experts—including scientists, field researchers, and conservationists—across a variety of taxa. Given the deep expertise and curiosity in this community, we’d love to hear your thoughts on what would make this most useful for mammal watchers.
With Alba, you’d be able to:
🐾 Ask specialists your burning questions on mammal ID, tracking, behavior, conservation, field techniques, and more.
📞 Book quick calls with experts for deeper insights.
🎙️ Get personalized content—short podcasts or video responses tailored to your questions.
For example:
- “What are the best methods for detecting small carnivores at night?”
- “How do I set up remote acoustic monitoring for bats?”
- “What’s the best way to differentiate closely related rodent species in the field?”
- “How do different felids respond to playback calls?”
We’re looking for initial feedback and beta users, and we’d love to know:
✅ Would you use this?
✅ What features would make it valuable for you?
✅ Which experts in the mammal world would you love to talk to?

📝 Feedback Form: [Form]
Your insights will directly shape the platform before we launch in early April, and we’d love your input! Drop a comment below or fill out the form—thanks, and happy mammal watching! 🦦🐺🐘🐒🐾

The site looks nice and it is an interesting idea… my first reaction was why isn’t there a mammal category, rather than cats for example?.. But then my next reaction is that people can seek answers to all of these questions already on mammalwatching.com and often have experts answer them. So I am not sure what the benefit from using Alba would be. Is there going to be a cost to have an account … presumably there will be a cost to book a call with an expert at least? It will be interesting to see how much demand there is for that … because this could be a nice side hustle for a few people on here (Venkat Sankar I am thinking of you!).
