Local Area Wildlife: Massachusetts May 2023
May though mid June seems to be a good time to find mammals and snakes in my area. Most of the spring I’ve spent looking at reptiles and amphibians, but this weekend was particulaly good for mammals with multiple bobcat sightings and a couple of moose. Deer and porcupine are occasional finds while looking for other things. Unfortunately each time I spotted a bobcat I had lost focus and it took off before I could get any video but it was nice seeing them anyway. The moose proved far easier as they wouldn’t move even to let me around them. I ended up taking a different trail rather than risk disturbing them by continuing around them. Next week I am heading to Alaska so this will be the last of my local opportunities for the spring.

Went out again today: Coyote, Moose, Black Bear. I’ve found all three in my local patch before but never all of the same day, best day I’ve had in a while. Video https://youtu.be/tHcYd-i2B5Q
