Join Us for a Group Whalewatching Trip in the Azores!
Hello all! After reading about Jon Hall and Jonas Livet’s outstanding whale watching last year I knew I needed to return to the Azores for a summer trip.
In speaking with them, they recommended going with a group of 10-12 so we can utilize a private boat with the Espaco Talassa Whale Watching company. That way we can focus on some of the more rare species beyond Sperm Whales every day (as cool as they are!) They provide stats of the Cetaceans they’ve seen on all of their trips so their webpage is a fascinating read for marine mammal fans. https://www.espacotalassa.com/en/sightings-statistics/
I found that historically the end of July has the most luck with Beaked Whales and even the occasional Kogia. So, we plan to arrive to Pico Island the night of July 19th and stay for 5 nights. Whale Watching will take place morning and afternoon on July 20th- 24th. Each trip costs €620 (about €52 per person with 12 total). Then we’ll fly out of Pico Island at 7pm on July 24th. Lodging is reasonably priced (between €60 and €80 per night) and offered by Espaco Talassa with double, triple and quadruple rooms. No rental car will be necessary.
I’ve already have 9 people signed up for the trip, so that leaves 3 more places. Please email me at Alexander.f.meyer@gmail.com to hear more details or let me know if you’re interested.
Lets go see some whales!!!
