IT’S A WILD LIFE! – TRIP REPORT NORTH CHILE 2023
We, Rob Jansen & Romy Jansen-Houtzager, are two enthusiastic nature lovers who travel the world together to search for stunning birds, fascinating mammals and incredible nature. Our world travel (with the title: It’s a Wild Life!) started in October 2021 in Chile, where we bought a car to drive through South-America in search of birds and mammals for about 2 years. Almost at the very end of our South American odyssey we went to the northern part of Chile, and of course we wrote a trip report about that:
TThis trip report covers the region of northern Chile. We travelled this part of Chile from the 26th of September – 14th of October 2023. We observed a total of about 120 bird species and 11 mammal species. Mammal species seen include Puna Pampas Cat, Marine Otter, Taruca/Northern Huemel, Bolivian Big-eared Mouse (they are soo cute, see the photos!) and Molina’s Hog-nosed Skunk.
