Information about Hirola “Beatragus hunteri”
I am planning a trip to Kenya in which besides several others spots I like to see the Hirola if possible.
To increase my (low) chances I am keen in information about best spots, time in the year, Guides and accomodations.
Can anyone help?
At this point I have no specific plans and can fully adopt to the best chances for the Hirola.

giant eland
I saw one in January of 2021 in the Aruba Sector of Tsavo East National Park (not far from Aruba Lodge and the windmill that is over there) My guide’s name was Shem and his whatsapp contact is: +254 724 395560
I also have a couple friends that have seen them at Ishaqbini Hirola Conservancy. Not many guides will travel there, but I know Zarek Cockar (who is on facebook) guided both of my friends that went (over the summer months)

I was there in October 2023 and stayed at Satao Camp which is reputedly one of the best places to base yourself for seeing hirola. We saw a pair about an hour’s drive away near some other lodge that I forget the name. They are very handsome animals. I had a private guide who knew I was looking for it. However in talking to some of the other guides who passed through Satao we found that several of them had never even heard of hirola.
