Oh my god, what a magical observation of the Andean cat! Wonderful job on the photos. I’m so jealous of this sighting as we miss it during our own trip to Chile.

Thanx alot for your kind comment Samuel!
Yes, it was truly magical and I am so happy for it. It´s a needle in a haystack really you definitely need alot of luck.
Of course, searching at the hot spot places increase your luck but still… a needle in the haystack.

Thanks for this amazing and useful report! That said, Lauca NP is like 5000km away from Torres del Paine… I assume you had to fly there… And also you mentioned a “one day trip” to Arica, which seems also very far for a one day trip… Can you maybe specify what your exact itinerary was and means of transportation ? Thanks again!

      Hi and thank you!
Yes, of course I took alot of flights in Chile. After all it´s the worlds longest nation 🙂

This are the flights I took:

      Santiago – Castro (Chiloe island)
      Puerto Montt – Puerto Natales
Puerto Natales – Santiago – Arica
      Arica – Santiago

My daytrip was not to Arica but in Arica 🙂
I took a daytour to look for Marine otter which is outside Arica and then onto Putre in the Andes.
