Call for volunteers – special short trip for small Cetaceans in Gulf of Thailand – september 2025

Hello mammal watchers,

We are currently looking for 1 to 2 persons to share a short exploration trip in search of small tropical Cetacean species – Indo-pacific humpback dolphins, Irrawaddy dolphins and Indo-pacific finless porpoises – in the Gulf of Thailand during the last days of September of this year.

It is organised by Jirayu Ekkul and its agency Wild Encounter Thailand, who have been mentioned on this site before and have very good reputation.

It is a special addition of a larger already-organised trip (which is already fully booked), so it might be not convenient due to its brevity and the place, depending of where you would come from. Nevertheless, if you want to add other parts to this one, other local species include several species of Tragulidae, Cervidae, Viverridae, etc. and a lot of tropical bats, birds and fishes ; there is a lot of diving spots around there ; and the Gulf is one of the best places in the world to observe Eden’s whales.

The tour includes domestic flights from and to Bangkok, accomodation (single occ.) and meals, all transfers, English speaking naturalist, two and a half full day at sea on private small boat. The price is 2000 to 2700 USD depending on how many people will take part. I can send more details if asked.

All the best,

Pierre
