Amazing Sri Lanka

We experienced a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka this summer. 3 weeks and 50 mammal species observed and much more (birds, frogs, insects). We basically observed all the main mammals this island could offer, including the iconic Indian pangolin. Samuel

What a great report and pictures Samuel. And obviously I am very jealous of your pangolin (and your Fishing Cat). Thanks for sending it through.

Great report indeed!! Wow, you’ve basically seen all the mammal species I’d want to see there! (With the red slender loris that you’ve mentioned at the end).

Yes indeed, with the exception of red slender loris we saw all the “large” mammals of Sri Lanka during this trip (not counting cetaceans though)

Great report! Heading there soon! The photo labelled as Schneider’s Leaf-nosed Bat actually shows a Horseshoe Bat. I think it is Rhinolophus beddomei. Best, C
