Advertising: Special Mole-Rat Romania Tour with Sakertours, April 2025

If you were in any doubt that mammalwatching has truly become popular then look no further! In what has to be a world first, Sakertours are running a trip dedicated to finding four species of underground rodent!

Boom! Not everyone’s cup of tea I suspect but I know this is going to be great trip. I love looking for gophers and mole-rats … there should be a special word to describe the joy that comes from seeing one pop its head out of its burrow. But there’s a bonus! This trip will feature two legendary – and legendarily fun –  mammalwatchers: Janos Olah from Sakertours and Carlos Bocos of West Papua fame. So if you want to be a part of this one of a kind adventure then come along

We will be targetting

Lesser Blind Mole-rat – Nannospalax leucodon, 

Hungarian Blind Mole-rat – Nannospalax hungaricus,

Bukovina Blind Mole-rat – Spalax graecus 

Mehely’s Blind Mole-rat – Spalax antiquus.

There will be some other mammals along the way including Brown Bears, as well as some great food and plenty of laughter.
