RFI: Madagascar in late May-June or late September-October
Hello,
I am thinking of making a 3+ weeks trip to Madagascar this year. This would be a budget independent trip, 90+% a solo trip.
My main interest are mammals and chameleons, with Mantellas and allies being close second. Any other herps are welcome. I am not after birds and only log them as I go, unless we are talking about iconic species like a cassowary or a macaw.
I have a flexible schedule. I do not want to go over summer vacation, as chameleons are hibernating. I can go either after 8th May (given the comeing winter as early as possible), or after 20th September.
I did not do much research on specific species yet, but in general, it seems people see way more in October: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1369268-Lemuriformes
That can be, and probably is, also by there being way more people in October than in May, and all other things equal, less people is always better: but if that is a case, I doubt things are equal. I also read that October is the best for wildlife in general.
What would you advise me to choose and why? I know it will probably be amazing in either season, but I do have a choice :).
Thank you.
