Mammalwatching in the New York Times

Here’s a fun read for the holiday season from Mihir Zaveri, New York Times journalist and serious mammalwatcher (you may remember his report from from Quebec, & New York from 2022).

Mihir’s NYT article is an account of a trip he took this year with his dad Ameet (also a mammalwatcher and long term follower of this site). It is, of course, an entertaining read with some excellent photos. But there is more…. as well as describing the delights of Sabah, Mihir talks about the broader mammalwatching movement (I think I can now call it a ‘movement’, right? … it is covered in a New York Times story after all) and the conservation benefits.

So if you have friends and relatives who don’t fully appreciate your hobby then this piece could help. And if they do appreciate it then they may want to read it anyway.

This link should get you past the New York Times paywall but if you have any problems opening it please let me know and I can send a PDF.

Please do share it widely. Great publicity for the world’s mammalwatchers.

Onwards and upwards!
