Otter in Cambodia
Dear all,
I am not sure if this is an Asian small-clawed otter or a smooth-coated otter.
I saw it at Angkor
Wat, Cambodia. Any clues?

Looks more like Smooth-coated to me too though hard to tell. But I see that they released Smooth-coated Otters at Angkor Wat a few years ago as part of a re-wilding initiative so that also is a clue – this was at Angkor Wat right? https://www.voacambodia.com/a/baby-boom-the-endangered-wildlife-revival-at-cambodia-s-angkor-wat/6683495.html

Hmm… I’ll offer our opinion, but it’s not definitive. This looks like smooth-coated otter to us, mainly on the proportions of head-vs-body and also as the body looks long, whereas the small-clawed has a (relatively) shorter body and a larger head relative to body. The face and throat markings are also more similar to other smooth-coated otters we’ve seen, though admittedly there can be a good bit of variation with these.
