Sunda Clouded Leopard filmed up close in Danum Valley
One of the world’s most rare and elusive cats, the Sunda clouded leopard of Malaysia, has been filmed up close.
A biologist holidaying in Malaysia has captured unique footage of a young female leopard resting in the forest.
Previously, this top predator has only been filmed fleetingly and at a distance, with the first wild footage to be made public captured in 2010.
The Sunda clouded leopard was only discovered to be a distinct species in 2007.
Interestingly enough I have been reading up on that area recently and would be interested in visiting at some point (maybe late next year or in 2014). So if anyone else is interested in getting together for a trip there let me know! 🙂

Cool. Well I’m not particularly tied to any time of year. I won’t be making plans until after I get back from India in March. Then I’ll have to see how funds are looking. 🙂

I would most likely be interested in joining! In fact, Malaysian Borneo is the highest on my priority list after my upcoming African Safari in Februry. Depending what my work and/or school situation is when you go I might be able to join you. I even started putting together an itinerary last year but then some other things came up (and it was super expensive to go by myself so going with another mammal watcher or wildlife enthusiast would be great!)
