    That’s a great quick stop Charles. Good to know that the ringtail is still around. I will have to try again for some better pictures especially if there is a possibility of spotted skunk which would be a lifer for us. I think I need to spend a few weekends there this spring.

    I’ll also probably be heading back there in the Spring, and will give the Spotted skunk another go. It would also be a lifer for me. So if you see someone furtively creeping around the campsites wearing a headlamp and peeking through a thermal imager, it’ll probably be me.

    We were in Madera Canyon last spring. The Ringtail was somewhat inaccessible as it was being filmed by a professionally looking crew – we went to talk to them and they kindly asked us not to nose around in the night as it was apparently quite hard to work with the animal as it were. We obliged (and they were visibly relieved). We also haven’t gotten any Skunks not Coati. The main consolation was the observation of a Bobcat in daylight feeding upon a rabbit on a side road early in the morning.
