Handbooks of the Mammals of the World Vol 8: the latest taxonomy (and a critique)
Here’s a note from Vladimir Dinets critiquing the taxonomy used by the latest volume (8) in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World series, as well as highlighting some of the recent discoveries. This book covers all of what is left to cover in the series other than bats: such as sloths, anteaters, armadillos and – mainly – shrews.

Hi. What are the studies saying both Tamandua species should be just one species? I have tried to find it, but I haven’t been that lucky. I mean, both species look very similar, and I don’t have any idea why they were considered distinct in the first place. I would be grateful if you could linked or name the evidence for both of them being the same species.
