Aardwolf and Karoo National Park
I am hoping to go to Karoo National Park in the first half of next year (probably April / May). Has anyone had any success with Aardwolf there? any other good carnivores to try and see?
Thank you,
Daniel

Hi, we were there 3 nights first week of September. We saw no special nocturnals during the night drives. The park is spectacular and worth a visit. We saw Eland, Springbok, Black-backed Jackal, Gemsbok, Steenbok, Klipspringer, Red Hartebeest, Kudu and Verreaux Eagles amongst others. For Aardwolf: we saw 4 in Mountain Zebra NP same trip early September. One in the afternoon and three during a single night drive (and Brown Hyena and Lions).

As mentioned above Mountain Zebra is better for Aardwolf and Bat-eared Fox. A place closer is Karoo Garip Nature Reserve where I have spent many nights and seen Aardwolf and Aardvark most nights. There is also a large population of Porcupine, Bat-eared Foxes and a chance for Black-footed Cat. If you want details, let me know roger.mcneill@rocketmail.com
