Information required about Italy, Greece and North Macedonia

Hi mammal watchers,

I wonder if anyone has information about places good for mammal watching i southern Italy (Naples and south), northern Greece ( Thessaloniki and Lake Kerkini area) and North Macedonia? I have not find many trip reports on these areas online.

We will be there between 9 – 23 October and in Italy especially looking for Calabrian Black Squirrel and Porcupine. Sites for Finlayson’s (Variable) Squirrel, and for Corsican Hare where there are no risk of confusing it with European Hare, if there is any such place outside Sicily, would also be very helpful.

But all kinds of information about wildlife, from carnivores to rodents and bats, in all the three countries are gratefully received.

Hi! I am sorry to see you got no response to this request. Did you ever get to Thessaloniki? Some members of my family are planning a trip there this summer and are eager for any wildlife-watching tips… 😉
