Kahuzi-Biega National Park
Thinking about going to Kahuzi Biega. If someone has been there did you feel safe and who did you use as your guide?

I visited there in 2018. Crossed the border into Goma from Rwanda.I visited there in 2018. Crossed the border into Goma. Purchased a ticket for the 3 hour ferry ride to Bukavu and arrived in Bukavu two days later. I had already purchased two Eastern Lowland Gorilla trek permits before I arrived, directly from the National park (online, wire transfer included). I arranged for transportation with the a driver that works for KB NP. The cost was $125 USD each way. I stayed at an AirBnb while Bukavu and walked around the area during the day with no problem. Hope this helps Purchased a ticket for the 3 hour ferry ride to Bukavu and arrived in Bukavu two days later. Hi,
We visited Kahuzi-Beiga National Park in July of 2017. At that time there was a window where we felt reasonably safe as long as we stayed within the confines of the Orchids Safari Club or within the Park itself with the rangers. We booked our trip through Steppes Travel. They provided us with a vehicle and driver. Once in the DRC we used local rangers in the Park to take us to the gorillas. You can read more about our experience on our blog at:

I hope this helps.
