Here is more of Venkat Sankar’s latest success with watching California’s mammals.

Southern California, 2020: Venkat Sankar, 5 nights and 40 species including Western Mastiff and Pocket Free-tailed Bats, Round-tailed Ground Squirrel and a plethora of rats and mice.

    Great report Venkat. Even though I’m locked away in Australia with limited familiarity of your sp., I very much enjoyed the notes and photos. Enthused to hear the thermal worked well with small rodents too.

      Isaac – thanks, the thermal scope really is a game changer with the small mammals IMO. Would love to try it out in Australia one day…

      Thanks, Paul. Even I still have a long list of places to explore in Socal… Also, nice work on the San Bernardino Flying Squirrel – I’ve seen Humboldt’s FS at a few sites further north in CA but have always been intrigued by that southernmost population.
