Wallkill River & Shawangunk N.W.R mammals
Went birding with two of my friends today at the Wallkill River N.W.R. in Pine Plains, NY, and Shawangunk Grasslands N.W.R. in Galeville, NY. At the first spot besides the birds we had looks at a Common Muskrat and amazing looks at an American Mink. Got some photos of the mink but not sure how good they were. It eventually dove down a woodchuck hole. At the second site I had great look looks at another muskrat but it was getting dark so not so great for photos. We also had four White-tailed Deer out in the grasslands. The Short-eared Owls gave nice views too, while a Barred Owl called nearby.
