Unfortunately this is the pleasant version of these encounters. which seem to be relatively frequent. Not long ago a video sequence was posted in Youtube showing a VERY different outcome.
These situations seem to depend on the status and mood of the bear. A fully grown territorial male would behave quite differently. I will try to find that video (not for the faint-hearted though…)
